Feedback from participants

When I approached the ICS-RM, I was looking for a suitable combination of my studies in urban planning and sustainable development and a working student position. In the individual counseling sessions, the career coaches not only gave me valuable advice for a more effective job search, but also helped me to better define my professional interests and formulate my professional goals more clearly. I am happy to rate this career service with 5 out of 5 stars and would like to thank ICS-RM for their support!

Ezra Garcia, Student in M.Sc. Sustainable Urban Development

Through the ICS RM, I had the opportunity to register for several incredibly beneficial events. The experts leading the sessions were knowledgeable and provided valuable, relevant insights. I gained a deeper understanding of personal branding and networking, and I feel prepared to attend my first assessment center based on the information and tips I gained from the session about mastering assessment centers in Germany! I would highly recommend the events offered by ICS RM to anyone looking to successfully navigate the job market in Germany.

Nikita Maria Anatharackal, Student in M.A. Data and Discourse Studies

The offers from ICS RM really helped me to find my internship at a major bank. I found the suggested employers and positions where I had a good chance of getting a job based on my profile particularly helpful, as well as the proofreading of my cover letter and CV.

Ahmad Mohammadinezhad, student

The event was really inspiring and I am thrilled with the input and insights I was able to gain. I was really pleased to receive feedback on my idea and hear some other pitches.
The feedback on my idea was very helpful and opened up new perspectives for me. I am now even more motivated to develop my project further.

The aim of the ICS RM

What drives us:

Developing solutions for the known problems and bringing international students and graduates together with companies - a win-win situation for all parties!

A decline in the number of employed skilled workers and specialists was forecast to about 3.1 million by 2024, which is equivalent to 8.8 %. At International Career Service Rhein-Main (ICS RM), we aim to describe these developments in a positive light by focussing on the resulting opportunities for international students and acting as an interface to business, industry and public administration.

We are creating a sustainable structure that brings international graduates and companies together  by working with an external advisory board – consisting of high-ranking representatives from business, industry, public administration and politics – and keeping in close contact with our cooperation partners.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Are the ICS RM offers free of charge?
Yes, all our offers are free of charge.
Who are the offers for?

The courses are for students and graduates with an international
or intercultural background enrolled at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Goethe University Frankfurt, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Hochschule RheinMain or Technical University of Darmstadt. Students with an international and/or intercultural background enrolled at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and students without such a background enrolled in one of the above-mentioned universities can also take part in these courses, provided that the courses are not fully booked yet.

Who are students with an international or intercultural background?

Students with an international or intercultural background are people, who

  • were born abroad and immigrated to Germany to study or live, and/or,
  • have at least one parent who was born abroad and emigrated to Germany and/or
  • do not use German as their everyday language only when communicating with their family members.
Why are the offers for students with an international or intercultural background in particular?
The International Career Service Rhein-Main is funded by the European Social Fund through the funding programme "Using international potential - shaping the transition from university to work" of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture (HMWK). The programme is primarily intended to support students with an international or intercultural background enrolled at the network of universities mentioned above in order to increase equal opportunities.
I do not have an international or intercultural background, what can I do?
If the courses are not fully booked, participation is also open to students without an international or intercultural background. Once you have registered, you will initially be placed on the waiting list. Depending on the number of places on the waiting list and provided that there are still openings available, we will admit you shortly before the start of the workshop.
My German language skills are not very good. Can I still take part?

Many of our events are in German. For those events, we recommend a proficienciy level of at least CEFR B1 to ensure that you understand the most important points. However, you can decide for yourself whether your German language skills are sufficient to follow the content. Events that are held in English are marked accordingly. We endeavour to vary the languages of the events. We offer individual consultation meetings and advisory interviews in German and English.

Do I have to switch on my camera during the online offers?
Yes, please turn on your camera. It is important to us to promote an interactive and engaging learning environment, which is supported by the visibility of all participants. However, if you do not want to turn on your camera for private reasons (e.g. when participating from a public space), that is also fine. We also encourage you to actively participate to maximise everyone's exchange and learning experience.
