The workshops and lectures will give you an insight into the standards and special features of the German job market. If you know what employers in Germany expect in an application, your chances of a successful job search increase! job search! You will also receive information on residence and employment law so that you can prepare for your first job at an early stage.

(DEU) 15-17.05.2024: Fit for the German labor market, 9:00 am-1:00 pm each day

...is a three-day workshop organized by the university team of the Frankfurt am Main Employment Agency for international students. In modules that build on each other, the focus is on your application documents, preparing for the interview and important information on admission to the job market. After the workshop, you can have your application documents checked and optimized by our speakers in a personal interview. Individual appointments (60 minutes each) will be arranged on site for May 21 and 23, 2024 .


Goals:

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to prepare written application documents according to current standards and will have learned strategies for preparing for a job interview.

(ENG) 01.07.2024: Fit for work and study - finding a part-time job as an international student, 4:00-5:30 pm

A lot of students also work during their studies. It is important not only to cover the living expenses but also to gain first professional insights and start networking. In this workshop you will find out about various part time jobs you could venture into and where you can find them. You will also acquire information on job-related topics such as references, job contracts and health insurance.


Goals:

By preparing well in advance for your part-time job search, you will know what you need to bear in mind as an international student. This will help you speed up the recruitment process and the part-time job will not only finance your studies, but also gain important practical experience.

Alberto Coronado is a graduate sociologist from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He knows what it’s like to arrive in a country without speaking the language. He works at the WELCOMECENTER HESSEN, which is the primary contact and consulting center for international workers, professionals, and executives, apprentices, and university students as well as companies. They offer information and support regarding living and working in Hessen, the different options of learning German, the Skilled Immigration Act and the visa application process as well as vocational training and continuing education.

Wouldn't it be nice to know what employers expect from the "perfect" application before you even send it? That's exactly what you'll learn in this workshop! It provides firsthand, with a change of perspective, a realistic insight into the application process and shows what really matters for a successful application.


Goals:

The aim of the workshop is to support participants in successfully applying for jobs in the German job market. International students learn how to present themselves in the best possible way and understand what employers in Germany expect from them. The workshop provides a realistic first-hand insight with a change of perspective and shows what really matters. The workshop is held in English.

(DEU) 27.08.2024: Legal regulations for entering the German labor market, 10:00 am-12:00 pm

Are you about to finish your studies and know that your residence permit for study purposes will then expire? Would you like to stay and work in Germany and are wondering how to do this? In this presentation from the Immigration Office Darmstadt-Dieburg you will find out what options there are for obtaining a residence permit to work or look for a job in Germany and what requirements you need to meet.


Goals:

By obtaining information on the subject at an early stage, you can make a concrete plan as to when and which residence permit you will apply for after the end of your studies. Good preparation will speed up the process and allow you to start your career sooner!

This presentation offers you an analysis of the job market in Germany, job vacancies and employers' expectations. The job exchange of the employment agency "Jobsuche", Germany's largest job and training exchange, will be presented and you will learn how you can use it to find suitable jobs for you and what it means to be the "right" applicant.


Goals:

After the presentation, you will know how you can make the best possible use of the "Jobsuche" for your personal job search and what employers expect from applicants. You will also have a better understanding of the job market in the Rhine-Main region and know what you can expect when looking for a job in your field.

  • Information on the current labor market and regional differences in skills shortages, salaries, etc.

Dr. Diane Kairies from the university team at the Darmstadt Employment Agency. The university team advises and informs students on career orientation, for example on developing career goals. They provide an overview of occupational fields and offer application portfolio checks as well as support in preparing for job interviews.

Whether Indeed, Stepstone or others: There are many online job portals. You will get to know general and industry-specific portals and find out how you can use online portals effectively for your job search - from creating an attractive profile to successfully applying.
