Social Entrepreneurship

This elective module (2 ECTS) is aimed specifically at female students who want to develop ideas to solve social problems and turn them into viable business models. Social entrepreneurship is a business model that combines entrepreneurial activity with entrepreneurial activity with social added value and thus offers a future-oriented alternative. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) often serve as a guideline.

Given the underrepresentation of women in the start-up ecosystem and the growing importance of social added value for the younger generation, this module provides a valuable platform for aspiring female social entrepreneurs migrant women to empower them in particular and thereby contribute to making entrepreneurship more inclusive.

Event Content:

  • Develop your own ideas: In the ideas workshop, you will develop innovative approaches to solving social challenges, which will be developed and visualized using the creative Lego Serious Play method.
  • Reflection on self-employment: Explore the possibilities of self-employment as a career path and reflect on how this could fit in with your personal and professional career.
  • Implementation in a business model: Learn in workshops on economic topics how to turn your idea from a flash of inspiration into a sustainable business model. The core of a social business is also discussed, the business plan, is discussed and an exemplary structure is shown.
  • Exchange ideas with experienced social entrepreneurs: At the final event, benefit from an exchange with experienced female founders about ideas and ways of becoming self-employed.

The module not only offers the opportunity to learn valuable entrepreneurial skills, but also to make a positive contribution to society. Interest in the topic of "start-ups" is important, but previous experience or concrete However, previous experience or concrete business ideas are not a prerequisite for participation.

Organizational matters

The module is offered during the lecture-free period. The working form is hybrid, which means that some parts take place in presence in Wiesbaden, others are carried out online. The module is organized in cooperation with Berufswege für Frauen e.V. and other partners in the regional start-up ecosystem.

In order to obtain CPs, it is necessary to complete the self-study tasks in addition to attending all of the events. The self-study tasks are assigned by the lecturers before or after the seminar.

In order for the elective module to be credited, participation in all courses is required. The examination office of the respective university decides on the creditability, e.g. in the compulsory elective area(2 ECTS). university.
